The Steam Summer sale did not start as everyone hoped however TF2 has started dropping summer baggage vouchers which indicates that TF2 will be part of the Steam Summer sale event in some capacity. Giving some special summer boxes for those vouchers probably during the event.
Update on the DOTA 2 vouchers we still have 30 to go.

Must See Shows on Netflix (CAN) Part 2
Here Are the last few shows that you should definitely watch on Netflix Canada.
Touch:
An immensely human show in which a father with an autistic son tries to figure out what he tries to tell him.
Dollhouse:
By Joss Whedon a show that asks some fundamental questions about people and personality and how who we really are. (Firefly is on Netflix as well.)
Drop Dead Diva:
A great show with a strong female lead that manages to be fun to watch and show some of the troubles women go through in the professional world that are uniquely female. Especially enjoyable for women of course.
Robin Hood:
Another BBC reboot of a classic British tale.

Must Watch Shows Netflix (CAN) Part 1
Here are some gems that are on the Canadian Netflix that are definitely worth watching.
Cracked:
A Canadian police taking place in Toronto show that shows very realistic picture of the human cost of law enforcement officials as well as what they deal with on a regular basis.
There is some action here but most of all it shows the human side of law enforcement as well as the people whom they help or pursue.
CBC. Cracked. Promo. from Alexei★Romanov on Vimeo.
The Glades:
A somewhat funny police show focusing on a pain in the ass police officer that pokes at everyone around him. While this show has nothing new to offer it is an entertaining evening program to relax to.
Sherlock:
This is the new envisioning of the Sherlock stories by BBC a very good show and extremely entertaining.
Terra Nova:
A show in which the future lies in the far distant past, humans have done it and destroyed earth however found a way to the prehistoric earth before everything was destroyed. A very interesting and engaging show that was sadly discontinued after the first season.
Outcasts:
This show is similar to Terra Nova as in the last hope for humanity is escaping current earth but in this envisioning humans escape earth to another planet. The show feels extremely similar the Battlestar Galactica.
Survivors:
Humanity has fallen victim to a plague and whats left is trying to rebuild. This show has something that Walking Dead doesn't credibility a superb show done by the BBC.

Free classic games?
GOG.com a online shop that offers deep sales right now in their NoDRM summer sale preempting Steams summer sale offers another interesting service.
That service offers you as the subscriber free older games just for having an account. What kind of games am I talking about here?
Well here is the list:
- Torchlight
- Teen Agent
- Tyrian 2000
- Lure of the Temptress
- Beneath a Steel Sky
- Dragonsqhere
- Ultima IV
- Warsow
- Ultima Savage Empire
- Ultima Worlds of Adventure
- Treasure Adventure Game
The reason why this list is curious is that these are all games that you have to pay for although most of them a quite old. While Valve banks on a selection of Free2Play Games covering most Genres with a few of them.
GOG has clearly decided to go with games that you either pay for upfront or not at all where there are no equipment pieces that you can buy from the publisher or better XP/Gold bonuses.
Something that many Gamers seem to have hated.
GOG.com seems to be aiming for people who buy games by offering deep sales ahead of Steam as well as giving away older titles for guessing what lists are there for or providing free copies of older games.
Which does remove it a bit from a most other online stores leaving it to fight with EAs Origin and GameFly. However GOG does something else that is curious at that point they focus on PC titles and specifically no DRM they are not endeavouring to support the various DRMs that many other game retailers accepted and worked into their systems. But specifically oppose selling games with DRM.
This does limit their selection to some degree and it is smaller then that of most online stores however it is still a very solid little game selection and definitely worth a look.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone
This is a fun little Steve Carell comedy. It is rather predictable however they do tell the story extremely well and have a great story about friendship and relationships.
All the while making some extremely pointed jokes at the magician community as it has been recently.
The characters are well formed and the actors as well as the director manage to tell a funny family friendly story about friendship and time. There may not be anything revolutionary about this movie however it is a great movie for the a nice family movie.
Overall it is a fun comedy to watch with the whole family although there maybe scenes where some family members may want to look away due to the nature of some of the magic tricks performed by Jim Carrey's character. I would recommend this to children 6 years and older.

Cloud Atlas
Cloud Atlas the movie has managed to unite many different and very diverse story-lines well and provide and thoroughly engaging story spanning a great deal of time. This movie provides a very immersive story telling of what human can and would do and of love. But also showing some great human potential.
The characters travel across time and space switching faces colour and sometimes even gender.
There maybe hope for mankind after all.
The characters are well developed providing an interesting ride.
Definitely worth watching. I would recommend this movie from 13 years and up.

The Last Stand
Arnie is back! This movie needs little detail however if you liked Running Man, Terminator or any of the other Arnold classics you will enjoy this little action ride.
It gives some nice laughs and some great action. Not necessarily a girlfriend/wife movie but a guys night movie? Definitely!
Its a fun ride and action is provided plentiful here. I would not recommend this movie to anyone under 16 years.

It's a Disaster
It starts out innocuous enough with a couples brunch. And then a disaster strikes. The characters at first don't believe it of course but the coming to terms with this new situation puts into question everything that they believe and think challenging all the decisions they have made.
This movie shows many relationship problems that many will have encountered and questions if we make the right call sometimes. The characters are well developed in this movie as well and is definitely worth a watch. It wont entertain children but will provide a few laughs to any adult that has been through a couple relationships.

Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies is a movie about zombies from a slightly different perspective. Although predictable it is a fun ride which does entertain the audience and provide a fun ride.
Posing the interesting question what happens after the zombie apocalypse and it provides and interesting and insight full answer from a very fresh perspective.
The characters are fully developed and definitely believable although some are zombies they did manage to allow the audience to identify with them. You will find yourselves very engaged in the story and the characters. You may even root for a zombie!
The movie definitely provides some great laughs and the cast and director did a great job on this movie.
This movie is definitely for anyone mid-teens and up and can only be strongly recommended as a must watch.

Quantum Conundrum
Quantum Conundrum plays like a game of someone who played both Portals and thought that it would be fun to try to play with physics instead of portals to solve puzzles.
They did manage a reasonably good game and if you like your puzzle games you will enjoy this game as well. However this game tries to be silly and create ludicrous characters this however does end up with making it feel like a game aimed for the 10 year old crowd and not the average gamer.
The puzzles do use physics to solve puzzles those you can change at will by switching dimensions each dimension changes something. One slows down everything another makes items heavy and indestructible yet another will make everything fluffy and light.
Instead of Glados you have your crazy scientist uncle who's disembodied voice directs you and tells you about the strange past of the family.
Your other companion is Ike as small furry creature which seems to be helpful but somehow exempt from dimensions.
There is definitely some fun to be had by playing with these dimensions sadly it does not compete with the humour and greatness of the Portal games which is to bad.
However it is a game that does allow you to play a fun puzzle game while waiting for a Portal 2 Co-Op partner or if you already beat that maybe a good Portal 3.

Jack the Giant Slayer
This movie tries to sell its tickets and DVDs with the help of the actors prestige but does fall sadly short as overall product.
When I started watching this movie I wanted it work and work well. Sadly after a decent start they lost some of their momentum and then the director started making some ridiculous decisions leaving a great cast to pick up the pieces. The cast does do their best to safe the movie and they do so to a great degree however they sadly can't bring this movie to a decent level.
This movie would probably be fun to a child since the costumes and set definitely play to that however the adult audience is definitely lost in this envisioning of this fable.
Sadly it does have some scenes of semi-realistic violence so I would not recommend it to a child under 10.
I wouldn't recommend this movie as a must see or even as a should see I would actually say stay away you can spend two hours with something you enjoy much better.

Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead is not to old yet to be forgotten and Left 4 Dead 2 is most certainly a worthy successor although its not to youthful either. It has the improved AI director which adjusts the game to the players to keep it challenging and interesting which also alters the number and variety of zombies depending on how you played.
Left 4 Dead 2 still hinges on the Co-Op portion and so by default you will usually play with other players online of course there are AIs still around for your friends in this horror game but in the end a human player just acts more interesting.
The game of course offers the Source Engine again which means it is in the end on par with all the other Source Engine powered games graphically none of which are to old to look nice yet but it does have a slightly aged look nowadays.
Left 4 Dead 2 builds on the same level staging as it predecessor did and this offers a lot of variety again offering levels to the player in which the player is trying to escape from the hordes to an aircraft or some other 'safe' location. Of course we are greeted with the same familiar weapon selection. Nothing especially not worthy here to be honest.
Overall if you are looking for a good zombie survival shooter with decent graphics and fun maps as well as replay-ability then Left 4 Dead 2 has definitely something to offer to you.

Steam Trading Card Beta
The Steam Trading Card Beta has been an interesting and so far seemingly successful addition to the Steam world. This addition provides players with Trading Cards for their play time of specific games. There are some exceptions to this and those are the Free2Play games such as Team Fortress 2 where you need to spend 9$ in game per card. If you want to gain drops.
The Player can gain via those random drops half of a games deck. After that you rely on trading with other players or buying via the community market place from other players.
Once you have a full deck you can make them into a badge giving you experience points and leveling your steam profile up. Those level ups increase your odds on receiving Booster Packs 20% per ten levels starting and each also grant access to visual profile improvements such as showcases for your badges and game collection. You also gain experience points for any badges you already gained throughout their past sales events or due to time of being signed up to Steam as well as number of games owned.
Booster Packs were recently added by Valve and they give you three cards of a given game deck.
There are of course foil cards as well which are quite rare.
Now those cards can also be traded with other players either directly for other trading cards or items from games from such games as TF2 or you can sell them on the community market which means you can make a little money and maybe subsidies some games. However any money made on steam stays there you can not transfer it out.

Counterstrike Global Offensive
Although CS:GO is a bit older it still is a great game and does offer plenty of the old fashioned CS fun. By now the map choices for this game have become quite extensive especially if you pay of the pay-pass giving access to community generated maps. Also it is the first CS that came with the Gun-game mod as part of the default game.
The Game itself offers the good old CS system tried and proven with a face-lift. There is nothing unbalanced about this CS version compared to all the prior once.
It is also one of the participating games in the Steam Trading Game Beta and that could also encourage some people to play since it adds an extra collecting incentive.
The game is of course powered by the source engine giving it plenty of eye candy appeal even for a slightly aged game.
